MR/ Dampella Kanitu Vidyalaya has launched a community enrollment campaign for the 2026 school year, inviting families in Dampella and surrounding areas to register children entering Grade 1 as well as students in Grades 2 through 5. The school shared the campaign through social media and placed banners at locations throughout Dampella town and nearby communities.

The promotional materials highlight a wide range of facilities and programs now available to students—each one made possible through financial sponsorship from the Weedagama Foundation.

Technology and learning

  • Laptop access for every child — students use computers as part of daily learning
  • Modern facilities for the 2026 Grade 1 syllabus — classroom technology aligned with Sri Lanka’s updated primary curriculum
  • Free school supplies for Grade 1 entrants — equipment and materials provided at no cost to families
  • Free competency assessment kits for students in Grades 3, 4, and 5

Nutrition and daily care

  • Nutritious daily meal at 10:30 a.m. — in addition to the government nutrition program, the foundation funds a regular mid-morning meal for students
  • Free haircuts at school — grooming services provided on campus for boys and girls

Arts, language, and enrichment

  • Free art classes every Monday, 2:00–3:30 p.m.
  • English Activity Camps to strengthen language skills outside the regular timetable
  • Personality development programs supporting confidence and social growth
  • Theme assemblies — Sinhala on Mondays, environmental studies on Thursdays, and English on Fridays

Clubs, trips, and community programs

  • Environmental child clubs engaging students in local stewardship
  • St. John Ambulance Brigade junior programs teaching first aid and community service
  • Free educational field trip every year — an annual excursion funded for all participating students

Banners across Dampella

Alongside social media posts, the school hung printed copies of the banner at high-traffic spots around Dampella town and the surrounding area so families walking or driving through could read the full list of programs before enrollment day.

Foundation support

Every item listed on the school’s enrollment banner—meals, laptops, supplies, after-school programs, clubs, and trips—is underwritten by the Weedagama Foundation. This is the same partnership model we use at our other partner schools: priorities set with school leadership, expenses documented, and support reviewed before funds are released.

We are proud to see Dampella Primary School reach out to families so directly. Social posts and town banners help parents understand what their children can expect when they enroll—quality instruction, daily nutrition, technology in the classroom, and enrichment beyond the standard school day.

To learn more about our work at Dampella and our other partner schools, visit our Dampella school page or read recent updates on our news page. If you would like to support programs like these, gifts through our donate page help sustain enrollment campaigns, daily meals, and classroom technology at rural schools in Sri Lanka.
